General Questions
The Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing Program is a comprehensive educational initiative designed to equip biotechnology and chemical engineering students with the skills and knowledge needed for careers in the biopharmaceutical industry. It covers various aspects of biopharmaceutical production, from cell culture to downstream processing.
These courses are open to B.Tech Biotechnology and Chemical Engineering students starting from their second year, as well as MSc students specializing in Life Sciences.
The program consists of six courses spread across six semesters. Students may choose any of the courses at any time; however, it is preferred that the courses be taken in full and in the specified order, starting in the second year of the B.Tech program.
Each course costs INR 30,000 + GST. A sum of INR 22,500 + GST per student will be paid to SILVED.
The courses are conducted by SILVED and are certified by RVCE (Rashtreeya Vidyalaya College of Engineering).
Course Content and Structure
The program covers key areas such as cell culture, fermentation, purification techniques, quality control, regulatory affairs, and industry trends. Each course focuses on different aspects of biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
Each course includes online lectures, case studies, assignments, and group projects. Each course includes hands-on exposure through practical sessions.
The practical sessions include 2.5 days of hands-on training with industry-standard equipment and guidance from experienced instructors.
Yes, students will be assessed through assignments, projects, and exams. Additionally, a capstone project is included in the final course, which will be evaluated.
Enrolment and Registration
Enrollment details will be provided by your institution. Students can register through their college’s registration system.
Registration periods will be announced by the institution. Keep an eye on the announcements for specific dates.
Payment methods include online bank transfers, credit/debit card payments, and other e-payment options. Call or email the course coordinator for details.
There are no specific prerequisites, but a basic understanding of biotechnology principles is recommended. Pre-read material is provided for each module/session to help you prepare.
Please ensure that you go through the curriculum and register. We do not encourage switching after registration. These courses are best taken in the listed order and maximum impact is achieved when all six courses are taken.
Certification and Career Opportunities
Yes, upon successful completion of each course, students will receive a certificate from RVCE.
These courses provide specialized knowledge and practical skills that are highly valued in the biopharmaceutical industry, enhancing your employability and career prospects. SILVED has many biotech organizations and academic institutions (both national and global) in its network.
Absolutely. The knowledge and skills gained from these courses are beneficial for advanced studies and research in biotechnology and biopharmaceutical fields. Continuous research, development, and the introduction of novel technologies will put you at the forefront. This course will immensely help those wishing to pursue higher studies, research, innovation, and entrepreneurship opportunities.
Yes, the program includes interactions with industry experts and alumni, providing valuable networking opportunities. The SILVED network includes some of the most accomplished faculty, consultants, and industry pioneers, adding significant value to your professional network.
Yes, there are opportunities for internships and job placements through our network. A network is being created specifically to address this for people who are certified.
Support and Resources
Students have access to online resources, tutorial sessions, and mentoring from faculty members. Additionally, support is available for technical and academic queries. The placement cell of SILVED will aid in finding employment opportunities, and the Academic cell will help in increasing reach to foreign universities.
Yes, pre-read materials, links to relevant resources, and recommended reading lists will be provided for each course. Lecture notes, assessments, and assignment materials will also be made available.
Course materials will be available through the online learning platform and shared drives.
Additional Information
Yes, students can take a self-assessment test for a fee of INR 100, which provides feedback on their readiness for the biopharmaceutical industry.
Sessions will be recorded, and recordings will be made available to students. It is recommended to stay updated with the course schedule.
Yes, there are opportunities to connect with alumni through networking events and online forums.
Detailed information about the program is available on our website, including course descriptions, schedules, and contact information for further queries.
Online classes are not limited by participation, though our effort is to have an intake of 50 per batch. Offline lab/manufacturing sessions will be limited to 25 per batch, with sub-groups of 5 students each working in the labs and manufacturing floor.
Unique Aspects of the Program
- Industry-Driven Curriculum: The curriculum has been developed in consultation with top biopharma manufacturing industry experts.
- Practitioner-Led Training: The faculty consists of industry experts, each with a minimum of 20 years of experience in the field, leading the training sessions.
- World-Class Training Facility: The training facility at Brooks, located on the outskirts of Bangalore, provides hands-on training in a simulated industrial environment.
The offline training labs are conducted at our state-of-the-art labs on the outskirts of Bangalore. These sessions will be of 4 days, and the students will have to travel to Bangalore (at their cost) for these sessions. The stay and transportation will be provided by RVCE, and the costs will be nominal (these will be shared at the time of registration).
The cost reflects the unique value offered by the program, including an industry-led curriculum, practitioner-led training, and world-class lab facilities. These elements ensure that students receive the highest quality education and practical training, preparing them for successful careers in the biopharmaceutical industry.
